Trichostema lanceolatum

          Vinegar Weed

Horticultural Notes

8-15”          Vinegar Weed is a late summer annual with hairy gray-green leaves that contain essential oils with the pungent vinegar fragrance. Beautiful pale purple flowers with winged upper lobes make this a treat to find in the wild. These plants grow in the hottest driest places. I am not even sure how they get started, because you don’t see them until rains are long gone and the days are hot.
