Ranunculus californicus
Buttercups
Horticultural Notes
6-12” x 6-24” Buttercups offer a true sign of spring’s arrival with their bright yellow flowers on slender stems sparkling in meadows and under tree canopies. This perennial herb forms a cluster of green, strongly lobed basal leaves.
The Native Americans gathered the seeds in great quantities and roasted them before grinding into flour.[1]
