Eriogonum fasciculatum

          California Buckwheat

Horticultural Notes

3’ x 5’          California Buckwheat is one of the stalwarts of the chaparral with short, linear glossy green leaves set in clusters on the stem (fascicle, hence the species name).  There are several varieties with leaves covered in whitish hairs, both above and below.  Sprays of flat-topped white with pink flowers in umbels in summer and sporadically throughout the year are followed by rust colored seedpods.
