to 18” Maidenhair Fern grows on north facing, shaded, moist hillsides and wet stream areas. This perennial can be evergreen if given enough water but normally goes dormant as the season dries up. The graceful fronds are composed of rounded leaflets that are slightly rolled at the edges and may be split. The new growth in early spring is especially attractive. Unfortunately Maidenhair Fern is a host for Sudden Oak Death pathogen.
